It all starts by timing your departure out of your starting-block. You really need to master the control and rules of the competition if you want to end up first. Like many other simulators, MXGP 2020 is far from easy. If you’re a fan of the franchise you know exactly what to expect from it while newcomers will need to adapt at the rather steep learning curve. It’s a fun little extra but nothing worth buying the game for. Don’t expect something mindblowing here as it’s all still pretty limited. More fun is the Playground mode where you can drive around freely or create your own track. All the big modes make a return, including the campaign mode, quick event, multiplayer, and time trial. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it! This is probably the idea behind MXGP 2020 as it feels extremely familiar to the previous entries.

Luckily for the fans, COVID-19 doesn’t exist in the otherwise extremely realistic simulator so this means you can go ahead full speed! Unlike the real situation, the riders weren’t forced to race on a limited amount of tracks, in MXGP 2020 you’ll have access to nineteen official tracks, including one in Lommel (Belgium), which is always fun to see.

That being said, the update comes with tons of fun!Īlthough the world is still in chaos and a lot of countries are still facing the challenges of lockdowns, you’re free to perform your favorite sport in MXGP 2020. To clear the air, yes this is the new version, it was simply delayed a bit to run on the current generation.
Although most of the games always launch at the end of the year, this one launched early in 2021, making it a bit confusing why it’s stilled called MXGP 2020.
